NICAS Sessions
Starting from 18/09/2021, we are introducing a new course for children aged between 7 and 11. This course will focus on NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) and aim to pass each participant through the respective level after a full block of sessions has finished. NICAS is a nationally recognised award scheme which introduces the skills of roped climbing to children. We can offer NICAS up to and including Level 3, where with each level passed the climber will earn a certificate for their achievements. The first 3 levels are outlined below:
NICAS Levels
- Foundation Climber – Covers the basics of roped climbing;
- Top Rope Climber – aimed at promoting good practice in roped climbing, covers more advanced top-rope skills;
- Technical Climber – focuses on developing technique and movement skills whilst top-roping and bouldering.
Each level will have different lengths for completion, with level 1 being the shortest. Each level has to have been completed before moving on to the next one. As an example, those already with NICAS level 1, would be able to join the level 2 block. Outlined below is our next scheduled teaching block for each level (please note this will be regularly updated).
Level 1 (4 Week Course) – Every Saturday @ 11:15-12:45 from 18/09/2021 -> 09/10/2021
Level 2 (6 Week Course) – TBD
Level 3 (8 Week Course) – TBD
The cost for the Level 1 course is £75. This includes registration on to NICAS, all equipment hire and all certification at the end of the course. Prices for Levels 2 and 3 are yet to be confirmed.
